We believe there is nothing more powerful than the bond you have with your baby. Huggies performed better than we anticipated based for the ingredients and performance pillars. Parents seem to really love the Huggies products' performance and we found that the ingredients standards are much more strict than most would think. We do feel however that Huggies hides behind its parent company Kimberly-Clark, and we would like to see the brand step out on its own to show the part that they play in protecting the environment, human and animal rights. We also don't like the lack of 3rd party certifications. For a group as large as Huggies, this is definitely not a resource issue, but a choice. So, how do they stack up against the Conscious Score? The VOCs not covered in this list are methylene chloride, xylene, butadiene. There are however some ambiguous ingredients, such as the colorants and their wetness indicator. We are also not too thrilled that they have petroleum based plastics, and that all the elastic bands are made from synthetic rubber. This can be harmful if it is made with butadiene rubber which is known to harm the environment and is considered a human carcinogen just to be clear, we were not sure what type of rubber is used. They also do not have any 3rd party certifications backing up any of these claims. We really like the progress that Kimberly-Clark is making as a whole but wish that their progress was communicated by company so we could see how Huggies in America was making their own impact. Because as we see it, they are using mostly petroleum based ingredients, and have not done much in the way of environmental impact as their own entity in the US.
